Most homeowners have enough common sense not to mess around with their electrical systems in any substantive way. For some reason, though, a lot of homeowners seem to think that anything goes when it comes to their plumbing systems! We get it. These days, you can find tutorials on how to handle just about any “basic” plumbing service that you may require in your home. Watching a 10-minute internet video does not suddenly equip you with the working knowledge to get the great results that you deserve, however.
Today, we are going to discuss a few instances in which you are best off calling a professional plumber. By all means, go ahead and try to plunge that toilet on your own. Comfortable popping off the P-trap to clear a very simple blockage? That’s probably just fine. Still, in most cases, enlisting the services of professional plumbers in Paradise, NV is the way to go. Don’t create a hassle as you try to DIY.
Is Your Toilet Leaking?
This is an important matter to discuss, and one that we discussed in-depth in a previous blog post. It’s important because there are actually situations in which you are not going to need professional services to resolve a leaking toilet. Why not? Well, for starters, you might not really have a leak!
You could just be seeing condensation dripping off of the back of the toilet tank, so that’s worth investigating before scheduling service. If the tank is just leaking water into the bowl, then you may need to simply readjust or replace the flapper at the bottom of the tank. If the tank or bowl itself is leaking, though, a replacement will be necessary. Water coming from the base of the toilet will require a professional to remove the toilet and make any necessary repairs before reinstalling it.
Do You Smell Gas?
If you smell gas in your home, you can make sure that your pilot didn’t go out and that you haven’t left an unlit burner in the open position. Beyond that, though, you need to get out of the house and/or off the property immediately.
Gas leaks are very serious business, and very dangerous. Make sure that you know who to call in the event of a gas leak on your property, and remember that only professionals like those on our team are licensed to and capable of fixing gas leaks.
Garbage Disposal Not Working?
A broken garbage disposal may not be the emergency that a major plumbing leak is, and the garbage disposal itself may not be the most complex appliance in your home. However, it is one that should only be serviced by trained professionals. Attempting to fix your garbage disposal on your own could put you in danger, and may even void warranties on the equipment.
By all means, go ahead and push the reset button on your garbage disposal if it won’t start up, and check your circuit breaker. If that doesn’t seem to fix it, or if it is running but not well and is making strange sounds, give us a call. The Sunny Plumber Las Vegas will get it back on track.
