How Do I Know if My Water Line Is in Trouble?

Monday, April 9th, 2018

sunny-plumber-vanIn theory, your plumbing system is pretty simple, right? The supply side brings water into your home, you use that water at the various fixtures and appliances throughout your home, and the drainage system takes it away in a very hygienic and convenient manner. While that process is simple to understand, you have to keep in mind that even seemingly simple systems will encounter operational problems from time to time.

One of the biggest problems that you may encounter with your plumbing system is a damaged water line. Your water line is buried on your property, of course, so you may be wondering how it is that you can recognize signs of trouble with this pipe to begin with. The sooner that any problems with your plumbing system are resolved, the better. That is why The Sunny Plumber Las Vegas has some tips to help you figure out if you may need a main water line replacement in Las Vegas.

Hire a Professional for Sump Pump Services

Monday, January 29th, 2018

flooded-houseThere are a few plumbing tasks that you can handle on your own. Plunging the toilet, for instance, or, if you’re so inclined, replacing the flapper at the bottom of the tank if it is degraded and causing the toilet to run continually. Beyond these pretty basic steps, though, plumber services are best left to a professional plumber in Las Vegas, NV.

This is certainly true when designing, installing, or repairing a plumbing system at large. It is also true when incorporating new components into an existing system, though.

If you are ready to have a sump pump installed in your home, or if you need your sump pump repaired or just inspected for proper operating conditions, we are the professionals to call. While we don’t have to deal with rapid snowmelt or very frequent heavy rainfalls, there are definitely plenty of opportunities for the sump pump to save your hide—including those in which your plumbing system itself is the cause of the water event in your home.

Prevent Holiday Plumbing Nightmares

Wednesday, December 6th, 2017

By Gary Eisenhauer

The holidays are a time to enjoy with friends and family. However, Thanksgiving, and other seasonal holidays, present the perfect recipe for costly and embarrassing plumbing failures. With a little planning and insight from industry experts, you can prevent yourself from holiday hassles. Here are the top four tips from The Sunny Plumber to keep your pipe dreams in check.

What’s the No. 1 issue consumers need to think about around the holidays to keep their plumbing working?

One of the most common plumbing issues people face during the holidays is a clogged sink or malfunctioning garbage disposal. I always recommend being wary of the “FOG.” Fats, oils, and grease are your garbage disposals worst enemy. While this material is in liquid form when it’s initially poured into the disposal, it congeals into a viscous sludge as it cools. The FOG then sticks to the walls of the disposal chamber, as well as the walls of the drain pipe. This can gum up the impeller, as well as clog the drain. Don’t pour FOG down the garbage disposal if you want to avoid these issues. Throw it away, instead.

That’s a good tip. What else should I avoid putting down my drain?

Never put beans, rice, pasta and bread down the drain. These are like sponges and when saturated with water, this food material will expand and can cause a backup. In addition, bones and fibrous foods should be thrown away or composted.

Moving to the bathroom, what should we steer clear of?

During the holidays bathroom facilities are taxed with additional traffic and usage. Annual maintenance to clear any build-up can often prevent major toilet clogs and avoid the spread of infectious waste in the bathroom. Also, stay away from using chemicals to try and clear blockage as this rarely remedies a clogged line and can damage your pipes. If a plunger doesn’t clear the clog, turn to the pros.

What to be mindful of with water heaters?

The arrival of cooler weather raises caution for water heaters. Cold air causes expansion and contraction in water heaters and in older units, fractures can occur resulting in failure – which usually leads to flooding. Routine maintenance can identify those risks as well as ensure water heaters are operating effectively and efficiently. Water heaters are your best friend, but can cause a lot of headaches when they are not taken care of or installed incorrectly. With some minor attention, you can prevent major problems from occurring and enjoy the holiday without flooding or no hot water with a house full of guests.

Why Might a Sump Pump Fail?

Monday, August 28th, 2017

sump-pump-installationThere are a lot of issues that homeowners benefit from planning ahead for. A flooded lower level in their house is one of them. Now, we don’t deal with torrential downpours frequently or rapid snowmelt ever. This does not mean that flooding in the lowest level of one’s home is never something to worry about, however. We do have storms, and there is always the risk of a pipe bursting, too. That is why it’s such a good idea to have a sump pump in your home.

Like any other mechanical system, a sump pump can fail. Understanding why a sump pump may fail is very important, because it will help you to better understand how you can avoid that issue. Be sure to contact us if and when you require any sump pump services in North Las Vegas, NV. When to Call a Professional Plumber

Monday, August 14th, 2017

woman-with-plungerMost homeowners have enough common sense not to mess around with their electrical systems in any substantive way. For some reason, though, a lot of homeowners seem to think that anything goes when it comes to their plumbing systems! We get it. These days, you can find tutorials on how to handle just about any “basic” plumbing service that you may require in your home. Watching a 10-minute internet video does not suddenly equip you with the working knowledge to get the great results that you deserve, however.

Today, we are going to discuss a few instances in which you are best off calling a professional plumber. By all means, go ahead and try to plunge that toilet on your own. Comfortable popping off the P-trap to clear a very simple blockage? That’s probably just fine. Still, in most cases, enlisting the services of professional plumbers in Paradise, NV is the way to go. Don’t create a hassle as you try to DIY.
